Chariots of Fire

Did you know that Chariots of Fire, a 1981 Oscar winning British historical drama sports film produced by David Puttnam and written by Colin Welland, was partly filmed within the Woodside Ferry Terminal?

It was the fact-based story of two athletes - Eric Liddell and Harold Abrahams - in the 1924 Olympics facing different religious choices. Woodside Ferry Terminal stood in for the departure location at Dover for the embarkation scenes as the athletes left for France.

The main hall - now Woodside Ferry Village - can be seen in two images

showing the older venue (1981) and the way it is now (2019).
