Following on from Sleep Ferry Well, an initiative organised by Woodside Ferry Village to support the homeless services of YMCA Wirral, The Refreshment Rooms has taken the opportunity presented by the recent Global Scouse Day to add more much needed funds to the campaign.
Global Scouse Day is an annual celebration held every year on February 28th, an event primarily based around the traditional scouse dish, a meat (or veggie) stew synonymous with the area, and sees bars, cafes and restaurants, not only locally, but also in and around the world put scouse on the menu for the day.
The Refreshment Rooms, well known for its popular Scouse dishes, took the opportunity to support Sleep Ferry Well by donating 50p for every portion served of its traditional lamb/beef or vegetarian Blind Scouse options at its locations in both Woodside Ferry Village and Rock Ferry.
The donations raised around £50, meaning that it served 100 portions of this local dish during the day, which is being given to YMCA to support the services it provides at its Night Shelter in Birkenhead.
Sharon Stanton, MD at Woodside Ferry Village commented, “This was great way to celebrate Global Scouse Day and we are delighted that The Refreshment Rooms chose one of its most popular dishes on this special day, but also to help YMCA Wirral in providing its life saving services.
“Through our Sleep Ferry Well initiative, which was organised in partnership with Samelco Web Technology, we raised around £3,000 through the donations from other local businesses, and our food vendors at Woodside Ferry Village, including The Refreshment Rooms, Cowfish Smokehouse, Caffe Cream, Haku Sushi and Low Slow and Dough.”
