Woodside Ferry Village supplier wins key award

British Chamber of Commerce has recognised FINSA UK for its commitment to providing the UK with essential building materials throughout lockdown. The Wirral based comapmy has been awarded a Biritish Chambers of Commerce UK Business Heroes 2020 Award. Finsa UK played a major role in supplying Woodside Ferry Village with wood materials and creative expertise during its development stage during 2019.

Responding to the call for material from distributors and manufacturers, FINSA became

aware of an urgent need for sheet material for NHS projects. The FINSA team reviewed stock allocation and prioritised those projects which had a COVID-19 need.

Materials normally used in the manufacturing of kitchens, bedrooms and developments were organised and redistributed to those in urgent need to NHS Nightingale sites, to industrial hospital bed manufacturer Crystal doors, to contractors building temporary morgues and to the coffin manufacturers across the UK.

Rafael Willisch, MD of FINSA UK said: "It is an honour to receive this award in recognition of our efforts to provide the UK with essential materials which helped to create things like hospital beds, or to build things such as COVID response centres. Our team worked in challenging circumstances to get materials where they needed to be.

"This is a thank you to the FINSA UK team for stepping up and working together as I knew that they would and regularly do. Thank you to Wirral Chamber for the nomination, we’re thrilled to be among other organisations who have stepped up."

Whilst members of the team were furloughed, management ensured that each department was able to deliver a core service to those who needed materials. Some teams worked in shifts to ensure colleagues stayed safe to be able to operate.

The skeleton team went above and beyond to ensure that the demand for this material was satisfied before any other order and delivered on an express service ensuring materials got there when needed.

For example, 4,500 pieces of furniture were able to be built using FINSA’s anti-bacterial

material for the NHS with Crystal Doors. Richard Hagan from Crystal Doors said:

“During the lockdown and NHS orders, FINSA were fully open delivering vital sheet material throughout the UK. Five loads were delivered for the NHS requirement, all next day from Wirral Docks. Partnerships are key to successful business, and I am proud to work with FINSA as their achievements for sustainable manufacturing, innovation, and excellent customer service are second to none.”
